A Message From Pelvic Health Specialists, Dr. Lindsay and Dr. Kari
- Are you worried about whether your pregnancy and/or postpartum healing is headed in the right direction or if you’re doing things that might make things worse over time?
- Do you have questions that your doctor hasn’t answered to your satisfaction?
- Do you wonder if it’s okay to work out like you did before having your baby or if you’re ready to run and jump and do certain exercises at home or at the gym?
- Are you looking for some guidance from a birth healing specialist so you can feel strong and confident after having your baby?
- Do you have specific questions about the changes you’ve noticed in your body since having your baby…like what to do about the lingering pain in your back, why sex hurts now when it didn’t before, will that doming in your belly just go away, why you’re feeling more pressure “down there” or if you really need to do 100 Kegels a day to keep from peeing your pants a little?
- Do you wonder if you need to modify your exercises while pregnant?
- Are you worried about labor and looking to best prepare your body to give birth?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then rest assured, you’re in the right place!
Many people suffer unnecessarily with pregnancy and/or postpartum pain because they’re often told…
- “Just rest” and it’ll be fine (then months later they’re still suffering…)
- It’s “normal” after having babies or as you age.
- Just exercise as you did before your baby, I’m sure it will be fine.
- If you take some pills everything will be okay.
- You just need to do more Kegels because your pelvic floor is weak.
- Pills, surgery, and injections are not the only options. They’re just the only options your doctor or surgeon can offer you.
- Don't worry about giving birth, it's a magical experience.
The Truth Is...
- Resting it doesn’t change anything. You might get a small temporary relief, but then when you get active again you’ll still be suffering from weakness and abdominal separation. (I bet you’ve already experienced it!)
- It’s not normal to have ongoing back, sacral, hip, or pelvic pain after having babies or as you get older...or worse, to be peeing your pants when you’re trying to run or jump with your kids!
- Pain pills are addicting, dangerous, and can cause a lot of other problems with your body. (Plus, they don’t really change what causes pain and leaking and diastasis recti or other pregnancy and postpartum concerns to begin with!)
- “Learning to relax” and “drinking some wine” are not even close to being solid advice. They’re just the only options your doctor offers you because they don’t know how to really help you.
- Kegels aren’t the “end-all, be-all” to healing after having a baby….in fact, not all women NEED Kegels and they can make things worse. There’s so much more that can be offered to you than just doing Kegels.
- Exercise is good and necessary to have a healthy body but there may be special considerations for working out throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
It can be very confusing to decide exactly what you should do if you have pregnancy and/or postpartum concerns and questions about your recovery. You’ve likely heard a lot of options such as…
- A family member tells you to just learn to live with it; she’s had 3 kids herself and these things just come with having babies.
- A colleague mentions going to the chiropractor.
- The “experts” on YouTube recommend doing Kegels and butt exercises.
- A friend suggests going for a massage.
- All while the doctor tells you to give up running and working out or just take some pills for the pain and leaking.
It’s overwhelming to try to make a decision with all these choices…what will happen if you don’t make the right one?
Most people get stuck trying to make a decision about what to do next. They go days, weeks, months (even years!) without taking action, all the while feeling more overwhelmed and unhappy.
When It Comes To Solving Something Serious Like Pregnancy and/or Postpartum Pain and Concerns…
You must choose the right provider for your health. If you don’t, you could end up getting dangerous surgery (when it was unnecessary) or being dependent on addicting painkillers for the rest of your life, or just living with it when there’s actually a solution right around the corner.
Getting the “least-invasive,” most natural treatment is VITAL to you stopping your pregnancy and postpartum pain and keeping it from ever coming back, AND helping you solve very common pregnancy and postpartum concerns that moms all over the world heal from.
To do that, you have to not just treat the issue, but have a provider who is willing to figure out WHY the issue happened in the first place. That’s when you’ll get a PERMANENT solution to your problems.
Wondering if Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is right for you?
We know that when it comes to experiencing pelvic floor problems and dysfunction, it can be difficult to know what the right choice is in finding relief.
Let us help you by taking our Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Pop Quiz to see if PT is the right decision for you!
At WildHawk Physical Therapy, we’ve created a 3 step process to get rid of your pregnancy and/or postpartum pain AND make sure it doesn’t come back again
Step #1 - We Want To Listen To Your Story
Our medical system is frustrating. You wait weeks, sometimes months, for an appointment, only to get to talk to the doctors for 10 minutes before they have to run to the next patient and you’re left sitting there wondering, “What just happened?”
Even most pelvic floor physical therapy clinics operate this way. They’re not attentive, they’re fast-paced, and your therapist doesn’t have time to actually touch you where you hurt or look at the area that is concerning you.
Step #2 - Find Out WHY Pregnancy and/or Postpartum Issues Started
Many people have a diagnosis or medical term for what’s going on with their bodies. Maybe their doctor gave it to them, maybe tests showed the diagnosis, or maybe you found it online.
You could have been told that your only choice was to rest, take medications, or get surgery.
Sometimes, those things bring temporary relief, but they’re not addressing what CAUSED the problem in the first place.
Every person’s cause of pregnancy and/or postpartum pain or concerns is different. No one has the exact same problem caused by the exact same thing as another person.
Our goal at WildHawk Physical Therapy is to find the original cause of your issue, so not only does your concern go away, it STAYS AWAY!
We understand that you might be skeptical or unsure if physical therapy is the right treatment for your pelvic pain. If that’s you, feel free to give us a call below. We’d love to talk about your concerns and see if we’re the best fit for you!
Step #3 - Get Rid Of The Pregnancy and/or Postpartum Issue & Keep It From Coming Back
This is when the big transformations occur. We develop a personalized plan that allows you to…
…Get back to exercising and sexy time without fear of pain or pregnancy and/or postpartum issues coming back.
…Be able to do your job, stop missing out on activities with your family, and get back to your life without pain or other pregnancy and/or postpartum issues holding you back
…Get back to the pre-baby body you loved, feeling strong and confident once again.
Our best clients are those who are motivated and ready to win back their active lifestyle. (Even if they feel stuck right now!)
